Dr. Jay Y. Westcott: President
and founder of ELISA Tech
I would like to welcome
you
to our corporate web site.
The academic and technical experience at ELISA
Tech is quite extensive and most of the staff
has publications in a variety of scientific
journals.
I received my B.S. in Biology at
SUNY Albany in 1975 and a doctorate degree from
Purdue University in Biology in 1981. I then
became a post-doc in the Pharmacology Department
at the University of Colorado Health Sciences
Center (UCHSC) in the laboratory of Dr. Robert
Murphy. In this laboratory I concentrated on
analytical techniques for measuring lipid mediators
such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. I became
a faculty member at UCHSC in the Pulmonary Division
of the Department of Medicine and was in charge
of an immunoassay core facility for the measurement
of eicosanoids. I gained experience in working
with a variety of biologic fluids including BALF,
induced sputum, nasal lavages and tissue homogenates.
I quickly realized that a niche market existed
for the commericialization of highly specialized
immunoassay services. After joining the National
Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver
in 1997 as a faculty member in the Department
of Medicine the birth
of ELISA Tech was conceived.
